The rules are simple...there's a hat, this hat is filled with many questions ranging from the personal to the off beat. We pass the hat, and artists gets a chance to answer the question they choose from said hat. Fun is had by all.
We're graced with another artist you're bound to hear a lot about in 2018, Scotland's Lewis Capaldi. He was making his rounds last month across the US opening for Milky Chance and you can find him again this Summer at numerous festivals, along with a sold out UK headlining tour in the coming months. We've had his EP Bloom on repeat for quite a bit now, so we were excited to catch his captivating live set and sit down to chat about WHO Lewis Capaldi really is.

-Worst job you’ve had:
The only job I’ve ever applied for was at this little ice cream stand at this mall in Livingston where I’m from. They asked me to come in for a trial shift. All you had to do was scoop ice cream and then weight it. You had to guess with your scoop what the weight was, it was like a science and I’m not good at that, so that’s the only 'job' I’ve had.
-What’s your recording and writing process like?
With writing it kinda depends. If I’m out and about and I hear someone say something that I think would work I’ll steal that and put it on my phone. Then when it comes to me sitting down with a piano or a guitar I’ll fiddle around with a good melody. For example, I’ve got this song called “Headspace” and one of the lines 'I could take the hit, but I don’t want the bruise'. That’s from my brother. This one time my other brother punches him in the arm and he was like like 'that wasn’t that hard' and my brother went 'I don’t want a bruise'. Then I was like 'ah I want that in my song', then a couple months later I was messing around with my guitar making this melody and I came back to that line 'I could take the hit, but I don’t want the bruise' and I built the whole song around that concept.
-If you could be an animal for a day, what would you be?
A penguin. I think they’re my favourite animal. Or a dog since all they do is sleep, eat, and shit.
-Do you have any tour souvenirs?
This t-shirt I’m wearing. It says 'Peg Leg Porker' on it. Me and my keyboard player bought one at the barbecue place in Nashville. He’s a lot skinner than me so when he wears it its like 'oh he’s wearing that ironically it looks really cool'. Since I’m slightly heavier it just looks like I really love barbecue.
-What’s your favourite food on the road?
When in America it’s Mexican since we can’t do good Mexican in the UK. Everything over there is just awful. But while I’m hear I just want to put as much Mexican food in my body as possible cause I know when I go back to the UK I won’t get anything good.
-What was the first record you ever bought?
I remember buying a Bob Dylan Greatest Hits called ‘Dylan’. At the time I didn’t know any Bob Dylan, I knew who Bob Dylan is but I was like 'oh I’ll be really cool if I buy this'.
-If you could create one Holiday what would it be for and what would you call it?
Just my Birthday. I would call it Capal-DAY
-What’s the coolest venue you’ve ever played?
Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. It was just ridiculous with how big it was and the classic theater, but it’s huge.
-Outside of music what are you known for with your friends?
I’m really bad at getting hangovers.
-What’s the last thing you’ve done that deserves a high five
I don’t think anyone deserves high fives. I think I’ve participated in 3 high fives in my life. A gentlemanly knod is better. I guess this music stuff is ok though?
-What is your guilty pleasure song?
I don’t really have any. I have more of a guilty pleasure thing. I’ve recently started to watch clips of wresting, like WWF.
